Requests for Fall 2025 Courses
-
The Department would like to share a few important updates regarding Spring 2026 course requests.
The Spring 2026 course roster is still being finalized. Some courses may move times, and the Department is actively working to finalize those items.
In addition, the Department is transitioning to a new backend system to help streamline the SPN and course request process. While students will continue using the same request forms (as listed below), the new backend system is designed to improve efficiency and help students receive quicker responses.
The updated system will go live on January 6th at 10:00 AM, there will be four sessions students may submit SPN requests in. The four sessions are as follow:
Session 1: form submission - Jan 06 – 09
Students will receive answers - (Jan 10-11)
Session 2: form submission - Jan 12 - 15
Students will receive answers - (Jan 16-17)
Session 3: form submission - Jan 18 - 21
Students will receive answers - (Jan 22-23)
Session 4: form submission - Jan 24 - 26
Students will receive answers - (Jan 27-28)
Please note: Requests submitted after January 26 at 11:59 PM will not be accepted, as the request window provides ample time to submit.
Any Questions? Please send them to the Department Discord only under #spn-chat: ME + AE + PE Bulletin Board on Discord

- A code to enter in WebReg (for SPNs, Intern/Co-op/Research registration)
- Your course added to your transcript within 1–2 weeks (for Intern/Co-op/Research Credit)
- An email confirmation with a certificate mailed to you (for Certificate Programs)
- Further instructions (for JJ Slade or BS/MS requests)
🟡 Waitlisted – If space is limited, particularly when:
- Priority must be given to upperclassmen in Mechanical & Aerospace or Packaging Engineering who require the course to graduate
❌ Not Approved – If:
- No seats are available
- You do not meet the required prerequisites
→ Please note: The Department follows all prerequisites listed in the official Schedule of Classes. Requests for overrides without meeting prerequisites will be denied.
-
📌 Concentrations
- Do not require lab courses—only departmental electives (as outlined in the Handbooks as listed below)
📌 Registration & Majors
- Students must register for the section specific to their major.
Example:
A Mechanical Engineering student needs to register for 14:650:312 Fluid Mechanics.
At registration, the two sections may look like this:- Section 01 – Open to: MAJ: 021 (Aerospace Engineering) – Open
- Section 02 – Open to: MAJ: 650 (Mechanical Engineering) – Closed
Although Section 02 is marked as closed, students in Mechanical Engineering must request an SPN for Section 02. Each major must remain in its assigned section.
